Midnight Walk returns to South Park

On Friday 20th June, our 7th annual St Teresa’s Hospice Midnight Walk took place at South Park, Darlington.

After receiving goody bags containing glowsticks and fetching pink tiaras, the participants were led in an energetic zumba routine by staff from Lifestyle Fitness, Darlington to make sure everyone was properly warmed up before being shown to the start line. The marvellous midnight march was then officially started by His Worshipful the Mayor of Darlington Cllr Gerald Lee.

As the town clock tolled twelve, confetti rained down on the crowds and the walk began. The route took participants on a 1.5 mile circuit of the park. As soon as they crossed the finish line, the wonderful walkers were treated to a hot drink and a breakfast bun.

Hospice Director Jane Bradshaw said: “The Midnight Walk is always a wonderful night, and this year has been no different. We’re incredibly grateful to all the wonderful people and organisations who support the Hospice through this brilliant event, and to everybody who takes part and does such a great job raising sponsorship. Their efforts all go directly towards the vital work of St Teresa’s Hospice.”

The sponsored event is expected to raise over £20,000 for St Teresa’s Hospice, which provides free services and care for families affected by life-limiting illness in the Darlington and District area.

As well as Lifestyle Fitness, the event was also supported by Sherwoods, Securitas, Morrisons at Morton Park, and 1st Stop Party Shop on North Road.

Any sponsorship money raised should be delivered to St Teresa’s Hospice as soon as possible.

The Midnight Walk will return next year – please contact us on 01325 254321 if you’d like to receive information.
