An EE-xcellent Partnership

Here at St Teresa’s Hospice we’re delighted that so many local people, groups, organisations and businesses choose to help their local hospice and do so much to support end-of-life care in Darlington and District. Now, we’re overjoyed to welcome EE Contact Centre Darlington to this wonderful group.

Director Jane Bradshaw accepts a donation of computer tablets on behalf of St Teresa’s Hospice

Staff at the Contact Centre have pledged to support and raise money for St Teresa’s Hospice throughout the coming year, and have already made a start by holding a raffle, with the grand prize of a private on-site car parking space!

A special 5-a-side tournament is planned to kick-off the fundraising year, and a team of enthusiastic cyclists from the Centre are also already training for a challenging ‘Coasts and Castles’ sponsored cycle ride in May this year! The team of Stephen Wiegold, Jonathan Roberts, Richard Lawley, Wayne Furnell, Andrew Hodgson, Mark Pinder and Martin Wheelhouse plans to cover over 100 miles per day during their ride from Darlington to Edinburgh.

The Centre has also donated a number of computer tablets to be used by Hospice guests and patients. A special ‘Techie Tea Party’ will be held at the Hospice by members of the communications company’s technical support team to teach patients how to use the tablets for activities such as email, online shopping, and more!

The adoption of the Hospice as one of the centre’s favourite charities follows a visit by EE staff to the Hospice last year, when a team spent a day volunteering to assist with sorting donated goods at our warehouse. Plans are in place for EE staff to continue to volunteer to assist with this and other Hospice activities.
