Runner successfully completes his 505 mile journey

Marc Ellis, the Darlington man who decided to run from Land’s End to Darlington in aid of St Teresa’s Hospice, has successfully completed his 505 mile journey!

A triumphant return as Marc arrives home

Marc arrived in Darlington town centre on just before noon on Saturday 30th May (an entire month after leaving Cornwall) to be met by a flood of family, friends, well-wishers, and staff and supporters from the Hospice. Many in the crowd didn’t know Marc, but had just been so impressed by his dedication and determination. Marc described the return as “probably the best day of my life”

At the time of writing Marc’s fundraising total currently stands at a staggering £14,324.68, and he hopes that by the time all remaining donations come in he will have broken the £15,000 barrier.

Hospice Director Jane Bradshaw said: "Amounts like this do not come into the Hospice every day. It is an amazing achievement, Marc has single-handedly inspired so many people to give to our cause. He told me that he was inspired himself after a visit to the Hospice, when he saw our family support team. He was surprised at how the Hospice is supporting children who have lost someone due to terminal illness."

On behalf of the patients, supporters, volunteers and staff of St Teresa’s Hospice, we’d like to congratulate Marc on this superhuman achievement and offer a truly massive “Thank you”!
