Local hotel whips up a wondrous Wonderland cocktail for fundraisers

Houndgate Townhouse in Darlington has announced it will be refreshing participants in the upcoming St Teresa’s Hospice Midnight Walk on Friday 17th June at South Park.

The Darlington hotel is proud to have created a suitably curious cocktail for the evening, during which walkers will head down the rabbit hole and into Wonderland in aid of the local charity. As a result, every person who enters the Midnight Walk will receive a Wonderland-style ‘Drink Me’ bottle containing the signature cocktail, which the creators have named Yellow Sunshine.

Houndgate Townhouse manager Angela Lowe said: “It’s been great fun whipping up something for everyone who turns out to support the Hospice, and we think we’ve got a winner.

“In the book, Lewis Caroll tells us the potion that shrinks Alice tastes like cherry tart, custard, pineapple, roast turkey, toffee, and hot buttered toast; we’ve come up with something along those lines, but which tastes a bit better!

“We’re sending enough bottles for all the walkers; we hope they like it, and that it doesn’t shrink them down too small!”

Head of Nursing Alison Marshall visited the Houndgate Townhouse to sample the cocktail and thank staff for their support. She said: “The cocktail is absolutely delicious, and I’m looking forward to getting another taste at the Midnight Walk! Everyone at the Hospice is hugely grateful to the staff at Houndgate Townhouse for their support.

“This year I’m entering with a  team of Hospice nurses; I’m walking in memory of my mum, who passed away 10 years ago, and my family are doing all we can to raise money in her memory and support Hospice care in Darlington.”

There is still time to enter the Midnight Walk by visiting www.tinyurl.com/WonderlandWalk or by calling the Hospice on 01325 254321.
