Another Successful Santa Run

Over 200 people officially started their Christmas by joining in the Darlington Santa Run last weekend.

Our annual festive fun run saw 232 people of all ages don red suits, hats and beards and run the all-weather route that started at West Park Academy and wound through the nearby park. Runners completed either one or two laps, running 2.5km or 5km. On crossing the finish line, everyone was presented with a medal by the Mayor of Darlington, Councillor Jan Taylor, before enjoying a well-earned hot drink and mince pie.

This was the fifth Santa Run in aid of St Teresa’s Hospice, and we’re delighted to have heard so much lovely feedback from people who enjoyed the event. Santa Runners have already raised over £2,500 to help terminally ill people and their families this Christmas, with a lot more expected, so if you have raised sponsorship money, please drop it in to St Teresa’s Hospice as soon as you can!

We want to say a big “thank you” to our event sponsors Lookers Volkswagen Darlington, and to all the other organisations that supported us, including West Park Academy, Darlington Rotary Club, Darlington Lions Club, Sainsburys Clifton Road, Morrisons, and Sherwoods Vauxhall.

We’d also like to extend our sincere gratitude to the dozens of volunteers who gave their time so generously to help in every part of the day – without them it would be impossible to organise such a brilliant, beardy community event.
