Complementary Therapies

At the Hospice we provide a range of complementary therapies, with the emphasis on relieving pain and making the patient feel as comfortable as possible – helping them to live with their illness.

Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic massage is a generic term for a variety of techniques and can be adapted to suit your needs

  • Soft manipulation of tissues relieves muscle pain and eases tension
  • Massage lessens feelings of anxiety, promoting relaxation and a sense of well-being

Part of traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture involves inserting fine needles into specific energy points below the skin which helps to:

  • Relieve pain and other symptoms such as sleeplessness, night sweats and anxiety
  • Ease side effects of treatments
  • Relax muscles
  • Increase your sense of well being
  • Restore the body’s energy and balance

Reflexology is based on the principal that there are reflex areas on the feet that relate to the organs of the body. Gentle manipulation of the reflex areas can detect imbalances and unblocks energy channels within the body, restoring balance.

The systematic use of essential oils improves physical and emotional well- being. The therapeutic effect of aromatherapy results from a combination of the physiological effects of the oils and the relaxation of massage.

We have an onsite salon offering styling and colours, plus advice for scalp and wig care and also manicures. Everyone deserves to be pampered at the Woodlands !
