COVID-19 INFORMATION FOR ST TERESA’S HOSPICE PATIENTS, STAFF, CARERS, FRIENDS AND VOLUNTEERS.
(LAST UPDATED 01/03/2022)
We hope you are still keeping safe during these challenging times.
We are reviewing our plans daily and also have weekly calls scheduled with Hospice UK and NHS England in collaboration with the other Hospices nationwide. We are following advice from Hospice UK/NHS England and Public Health England
General COVID-19 safety:
Handwashing: We are instructing all people entering the Hospice building to please continue to wash their hands before signing in. (Staff will give directions and handwashing instructions are displayed in the bathrooms).
Masks: All visitors to the Hospice will be required to continue to wear a mask where they can. We are also still requesting people wear their mask when visiting our retail shops.
Social Distancing: We are requesting that people still continue to observe social distancing of 1m+ with PPE mitigation where this is not possible.
All Staff and Volunteers:
IF YOU HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS, PLEASE DON’T COME IN, TAKE A COVID-19 TEST AND CONTACT YOUR MANAGER OR TEAM LEADER IMEDIATLY.
Thank you to everyone for your ongoing efforts, as ever – you are a force to be reckoned with! Please do ring your manager or team leader about with any concerns.
Patients and Visitors:
If you have any symptoms, please don’t come into the hospice, and phone the general office to let them know you won’t be attending your appointment.
Outpatients: We have reopened outpatient appointments for Acupuncture, Massage and Lymphodedma. Please ring the General Office for on 01325 254321.
Community Hospice at Home and Rapid Response: Our Community Hospice team are continuing to provide their service, and we are very grateful to the wonderful teams. They will call you in advance if you are expecting a visit, and will also request handwashing facilities on arrival.
Inpatient Unit visiting: Visiting to our IPU has been necessarily limited as follows:
Please always phone ahead because of the ever-changing nature of advice:-
All Visits must be pre-booked and screening questions will be asked.
The preferred visiting hours are 12 noon to 6 pm each day (please speak to the ward for visiting outside these hours.)
Social Distancing must still be adhered to where possible.
Family Support: We are now seeing clients on a 1:1 basis and are meeting & greeting in Woodlands Reception. Please phone the General Office for any questions on 01325 254321.
Fundraising: Last year and for a large portion of 2021, fundraising events had to be postponed or cancelled to ensure safety. Fortunately, fundraising events have resumed and are taking place safely again. Visit www.darlingtonhospice.org.uk/events to see all upcoming events.
We are still facing a huge financial deficit caused by the effects of COVID-19, and in 2020 launched our emergency appeal to help the hospice continue its vital work throughout the pandemic. If possible, please consider sending a Hug to St T’s by donating here: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/HugToStTs.
Thank you to everyone who has donated to the Hospice during this uncertain time.
