Paws 4 A Cause
In 2024, we cared for 139 patients in our Specialist Inpatient Unit – help us continue to care this year with the help of your four-legged friends.
Take on the challenge of walking 139 km this April – that’s 1km for each inpatient we cared for in 2024. 139 km might sound daunting, but split up that’s only 4.6 km a day. (Just under 3 miles!)
How you do it is up to you and your dog; you can do a little bit each day or do a marathon once a week.
Registration is £10 per household and we ask that participants aim to raise £30 in sponsorship. Everyone who takes part in Paws 4 A Cause gets a doggie bandana, a pawsome walking chart to tick off AND everyone who signs up will be entered into a draw for a chance to win a pawsome doggie hamper.
What you’re walking for:
As the demand for hospice care continues to grow, we want to help as many people as possible. We can only do this thanks to people like you who help fundraise for the hospice.
£10 can pay for oxygen for day for a terminally-ill patient receiving care in our inpatient unit.
£20 can pay for one hour of care for a terminally-ill patient in their own home.
£35 can pay for a child to have a bereavement counselling session with our Family Support team.
Help us to continue caring for people and their families by taking on our Paws 4 a Cause challenge and raising much needed funds in aid of St Teresa’s Hospice.

General Rules, Terms & Conditions
This event is a virtual event, and there will be no physical event for you to attend.
Refunds will only be made in the event that the event is unavoidably cancelled by the organisers (St Teresa’s Hospice).
All participants are responsible for their own medical condition. Neither the organisers of the event, nor our sponsors accept any liability for the health of the entrant.
You may be photographed or videoed at the event. By registering for the event and entering into this agreement, you grant St Teresa’s Hospice full rights to use the images resulting from the photography/video filming, and any reproductions or adaptations of the images for fundraising, publicity or other purposes to help achieve the charity’s aims. This might include (but is not limited to), the right to use them in their printed and online publicity, social media, press releases and funding applications.
By submitting your registration you confirm that you are in reasonable health and know of no medical reason why you may not participate in Paws 4 A Cause 2025 and are aware that the organisers, their employees and volunteers cannot be held responsible for any personal injury or accident as a consequence of your participation in Paws 4 A Cause 2025.
Neither the organisers, nor the sponsors have any liability in relation to Paws 4 A Cause 2025. The organisers and the sponsors of the event, to the extent permitted by law, exclude liability for any loss, damage, injury, or consequential loss suffered by any entrant personally or to their property as result of their entry to or participation in this event.
Paws 4 A Cause 2025 is not a competitive event and you don’t have to be an experienced walker to get involved, although we do recommend to know your own fitness level and not to walk too much in one go.
By taking part in this event you are committing to raising money for St Teresa’s Hospice. You are not allowed to give your fundraising to any other charity (directly or via other fundraising websites). You are not permitted to use any of the sponsor money that you raise in relation to your entry in Paws 4 A Cause to pay for your expenses. By completing the entry process you are agreeing to fully abide by the rules of the event as they are communicated to you in advance and at the event.
By applying for a place in Paws 4 A Cause 2025 you are entering into a contract with St Teresa’s Hospice (Darlington & District Hospice Movement) Registered Charity No 518394.
Young supporters (under 16 years)
Participants under 16 will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult. There is no minimum age for this event, so everyone is welcome to walk with (or be carried by) their families too!
