Gifts in Wills & Legacies
You can help us to continue caring for someone with a life-limiting illness as well as look after what’s important to you, through a gift in your Will.
By writing or updating your Will to include a gift to St Teresa’s Hospice, you can help us provide care into the future and ensure our services that help local families will be there for years to come.
A gift in your Will costs you nothing now but leaves a lasting legacy.
A gift in your Will is an amazing way to leave your mark on a cause you feel passionately about. Your friends and family come first, but once you’ve looked after those closest to you, please consider leaving a gift to St Teresa’s Hospice. Many people don’t think they are wealthy enough to make a difference, but even a small amount, like a 1% share of your estate, can make a big difference to those who are facing life-limiting illnesses, and to their families and carers.
Every February, St Teresa’s Hospice holds our ‘Make a Will Month. For information on this event, please visit our webpage.
If you’re a local Solicitor who may would like to help us, please get in touch with the Events Team either by phone at 01325 254321 or email hello@darlingtonhospice.org.uk.
How do I leave a gift to St Teresa’s Hospice in my Will?
If you decide to leave a gift in your Will to St Teresa’s Hospice, there are two ways you can do this:
You can leave a residuary gift, which is the remainder of your estate, after other specific people have been provided for. This means that your loved ones are looked after first.
You can leave a pecuniary gift, which is a fixed amount that is specified in your Will as a gift to St Teresa’s Hospice. It is easy to leave a gift in your Will but please speak to a solicitor to ensure this is done correctly and does not affect the validity of your Will.
