PAWS ABOARD! – ALL ABOARD THE ULTIMATE DOGGY DAY OUT!
Calling all Darlington dog lovers — it’s time to paws what you’re doing and hop on board for Paws Aboard!, a paw-sitively brilliant dog walk in aid of St Teresa’s Hospice, starting from Hopetown Darlington!
We’re pulling into the station with a tail-wagging, fun-filled day for you and your four-legged passengers. Expect fur-tastic stalls, plenty of treats, and a great atmosphere that’s right on track for a top day out. The route will take you down the three arches, and along the river.
Tickets:
• £10.00 per dog (owner goes free) and includes a doggy bandana — a real first-class accessory!
• Additional Dogs £3.00 (includes doggy bandana)
Location: Hopetown, Darlington, DL3 6SW
Date: Sunday 10th May 2026
Time: Registration from 10:30am, the walk begins at 11:00am
The Walk: The walk will be approx. 5 km, and takes you across uneven surfaces, please wear sensible shoes.
Fuel up at Hopetown with delicious food and coffee, before browsing the stalls and taking part in the walk.
So grab the lead, mind the gap, and let the good times roll — this is one event you won’t want to miss. No need to wait at the platform… just paws aboard!
General Rules and Conditions
- By registering to participate in Paws Aboard! you agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions.
- They are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and incorporate standards set by the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice.
- Please note there will be photography at this event.
- All participants must register in advance and provide accurate, up-to-date information.
- Entrants under 18 must have parental/guardian consent and be accompanied by a responsible adult throughout the event.
- Registration places are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Paws Aboard! is a dog-based event and we are delighted to welcome all dogs, big and small, along with their owners. To ensure a safe, enjoyable, and paw-sitive experience for everyone attending, please take note of the following conditions:
- Dogs on Leads
All dogs must be kept on a lead at all times while attending the event. - Dog Behaviour
Dogs attending should be well behaved, socialised, and comfortable around other dogs and people. Owners are fully responsible for their dog’s behaviour throughout the event. - Dog Health
Dogs should be healthy and illness free on the day. We do not recommend bringing puppies or dogs who haven’t had all their vaccinations. - Dogs in Heat & Pregnant
For the comfort and safety of all dogs, we do not recommend bringing dogs that are in heat or pregnant to the event. - Owner Responsibility
Owners are responsible for controlling their dog, and they must supervise their dogs at all times and clean up after them where necessary. We do not recommend bringing any dog which is banned by the Dangerous Dogs Act to this event. - Right to Refuse Entry
Event organisers reserve the right to ask any dog and owner to leave the event if a dog is deemed unsafe, overly distressed, or disruptive.
- Dogs on Leads
- As this is a charitable event, you are expected to raise sponsorship in aid of St Teresa’s Hospice.
- All funds raised must be for the exclusive benefit of St Teresa’s Hospice and submitted no later than 30 days after the event via the methods set out in our fundraising pack.
- Please ensure that all donations and/or sponsorship forms are returned to St Teresa’s Hospice so that we can claim Gift Aid where eligible.

- All participants take part at their own risk. It is your responsibility to ensure that you or your child (in the case of parents or legal guardians of child participants) are physically capable of completing the event.
- You should consult your doctor before registering if you have any condition that may affect your ability to participate safely.
- You must comply with all instructions from event staff and marshals and observe any signage and safety briefings.
- You are also responsible for ensuring that you are wearing appropriate attire (including footwear) when taking part, taking into account the nature of the route, the weather forecast and the terrain involved.
- St Teresa’s Hospice reserves the right to:
- Refuse entry or remove any participant for safety or behavioural reasons.
- Modify or cancel the event if conditions are deemed unsafe (e.g., adverse weather or public health risk).
- Please be respectful of local residents while you are on your route, which includes parking and not making any excessive noise.
- St Teresa’s Hospice, its employees, volunteers, and agents accept no liability for injury, loss, or damage suffered by participants, unless caused by our negligence.
- Participants are responsible for any property or personal belongings brought to the event.
- Photographs and video footage will be taken during the event and used by St Teresa’s Hospice for promotional and reporting purposes (including social media and fundraising materials).
- If you do not wish to appear in media content, please let us know at registration or inform an event official on the day.
In the event of cancellation by the Organiser, you will be notified as soon as reasonably possible.
Registration fees are non-refundable unless we cancel the event.
Your personal data will be processed in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and our Privacy Policy, available at www.darlingtonhospice.org.uk/privacy-notice/.
Information will only be used for event administration and to communicate with you about this event and relevant fundraising activities.

Frequently Asked Questions
We want the whole day to be fun for all the walkers!
Registration opens at 10:30am, while the run will begin at 11am. Stalls and refreshments will be open from 10:30 to after all the walkers have finished and enjoyed their well deserved drink.
The walk is approx. 5km.
We encourage you to take your time and complete the walk at your own pace. The route will take you across a main road and around the five arches. Please follow all instructions from our safety marshals, and wear sensible shoes.
Yes please!
We would love for as many people to turn up and support our walkers as possible.
There will also be stalls for everyone to browse before, after and during the walk.
Hopetown will also have their café and museum open to browse.
Last minute sign ups on the day will be possible, but it would really help us to anticipate numbers if you signed up beforehand!
If you want to sign up, head to the registration desk where our volunteers can help you. We cannot guarantee that there will be enough goodie bags for any on the day sign ups and these are on a first-come-first-served basis.
