Staff and volunteers recognised at long service awards ceremony

Staff and volunteers were recognised for their long service to St Teresa’s during a special awards ceremony held at the Hospice on Wednesday 5th October.

For the first time since 2019, the event was held in-person to acknowledge the dedication of those who have served and supported the Hospice for 10 years or more.

Chief Executive David Smith and Chair of Trustees Carol Charlton presented certificates and badges to 25 members of staff and volunteers. Award recipients represented the full range of Hospice departments including clinical services, family support and bereavement, fundraising and retail.

For 10 years’ service: Ben Bourne, Anne Mullen, Barbara Tunstall, Julie Wolstenholme, Alison Thornton, Patricia Gladwin, Mike Clark, Nigel Little, Terry & June Evans, Ann Daykin, Alan James, Peter Scott, Elaine Oliver, Christine Barker and Glenys Woolhouse, Rose Wills, Yvonne Macdonald and Nicola Myers.

For 20 years’ service: Maria Fawcett, Joyce Milner and Diane Farrell.

For 25 years’ service: Jan Scott and Viv Scott

The Long Service Awards ceremony was followed by a special thank-you event for volunteers, who collectively give up thousands of hours of their own time every year.

St Teresa’s Hospice relies on volunteers and commercial, company and individual support to help raise the £3m a year needed to maintain services for the people of Darlington, South Durham and North Yorkshire.
